Position Overview

Role Title: Director of Strategic and Centennial Planning

Reporting To: Chief of Staff and Public Affairs Officer

Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary

Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000

Position Summary:

The Director of Strategic and Centennial Planning is a pivotal leadership position tasked with guiding the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives and the organization’s centennial celebration. This role involves leading interdisciplinary teams, facilitating internal committees, and ensuring that all efforts align with the overarching goals of the organization. The Director will allocate approximately 65% of their time to strategic planning and 35% to centennial activities, with adaptability as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning Oversight (65%)

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Direct the ongoing assessment and reporting of the strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Research and Data Analytics to manage data collection and analysis for evaluating strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports on progress and outcomes for stakeholders.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and implement strategic modifications to enhance effectiveness.

Visioning for Future Strategies:

  • Work with executive leadership and stakeholders to develop a visionary strategic plan for the next century.
  • Support research initiatives and analyze trends to guide strategic decisions.
  • Facilitate brainstorming sessions and workshops to incorporate diverse stakeholder input into strategic goals.

Community Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with community leaders and partners.
  • Lead community meetings and events to gather insights and foster engagement.
  • Ensure community perspectives are integral to the strategic planning process.
  • Develop strategies to enhance community involvement in initiatives.

Data-Driven Insights:

  • Oversee the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data related to strategic efforts.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to track progress towards goals.
  • Present insights to leadership and stakeholders through comprehensive reports and dashboards.

Centennial Planning Oversight (35%)

Campaign Strategy Development:

  • Collaborate with leadership and staff to create a strategic plan for the centennial campaign.
  • Coordinate centennial events, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets for successful execution of activities.

Committee Coordination:

  • Facilitate the work of internal committees, ensuring compliance with objectives.
  • Guide committee activities to align with the centennial vision.
  • Act as a liaison between committees and leadership for effective communication.

External Partnerships:

  • Develop partnerships with external vendors and sponsors to support centennial initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at public events and community forums.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Lead marketing efforts to promote centennial events and engage stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of activities using feedback and data for future planning.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in strategic planning, program evaluation, or project management.
  • Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in nonprofit organizations is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and data visualization software.
  • Fundraising experience is a plus.
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
