Role Summary:

The Community Engagement Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping, implementing, and overseeing public interactions with East Point projects. This position is responsible for crafting and executing project-specific campaign strategies that effectively utilize media engagement, community relations, and grassroots advocacy to foster enduring partnerships between East Point and the host communities of our initiatives. Working collaboratively across various business lines, the Community Engagement Manager will ensure that community relationships are nurtured throughout the development, construction, and long-term operational phases of projects. This role reports directly to the VP of Project Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Project Developers to strategically plan and implement local support initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of local support campaigns, including conducting community assessments, identifying project advocates, and establishing connections with key local stakeholders.
  • Ensure local government officials and influencers are well-informed about the benefits of our projects.
  • Support Project Developers in engaging subject matter experts for community meetings.
  • Organize local events to connect with government officials, civic leaders, and community influencers.
  • Craft compelling messaging for projects, ensuring community awareness and understanding of benefits while actively addressing misinformation.
  • Enhance media relations during project development, including creating media strategies and responding to inquiries.
  • Manage external communications at the project level, including website updates and social media presence.
  • Identify and onboard external partners as needed to support project initiatives.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to create standardized outreach materials that align with East Point's branding.
  • Coordinate with the parent company on public relations matters as necessary.
  • Assist in policy tracking and advocacy efforts that impact local community relations.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to design and document comprehensive public relations campaign plans.
  • Experience in building productive media relationships and generating positive press coverage.
  • Skills in de-escalating potential conflicts with stakeholders opposed to energy storage projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.).

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in public relations, communications, political science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in public affairs, public relations, communications, community organizing, or campaign management.
  • Experience in designing and executing effective grassroots campaigns.
  • Familiarity with campaign tactics such as direct mail, advertising, canvassing, and social media outreach.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector is preferred.
  • Experience leading or participating in cross-functional teams.

Travel & Time Commitment:

  • Up to 40% travel may be required, varying based on project status.
  • This is a full-time, exempt salaried position with standard office hours, though project demands may necessitate additional hours.
