Position Overview
The incumbent will play a crucial role in formulating and executing a comprehensive communications strategy for the Commonwealth of Virginia's Office of Global Affairs and its associated departments, including the International Studies Office, the Center for Global Inquiry and Innovation, the Global Studies Program, and the Center for Global Health Equity.

Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary consultant to the Vice Provost for Global Affairs on all matters related to communications and the global initiatives of the University. Create and curate a monthly newsletter that showcases globally relevant news and funding opportunities, engaging an audience of over 7,000 readers. Develop and compile an annual report that highlights the University’s global initiatives, drawing insights from various schools, centers, and institutes. Collaborate with the chief global affairs officer in University Advancement to tailor communications that align with donor interests. Oversee and regularly update content for Global Affairs social media platforms. Assist in the enhancement of websites for the Office of Global Affairs and its affiliates. Build and maintain a network of internal and external media contacts to promote news stories related to the University’s global engagement. Organize public events focused on global themes, which includes supporting speakers, managing publicity, coordinating invitations, and logistical arrangements. Lead bi-annual meetings with various University entities to synchronize scheduling for globally-oriented events. Supervise the occasional part-time contributions of a graduate student intern.
Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for formal education. Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills. Proficiency in managing social media accounts. Expertise in Microsoft Office applications. Proven ability to cultivate interpersonal networks and gather information effectively. Excellent project management capabilities. Strategic judgment in prioritizing tasks and initiatives.
This position operates in a hybrid work environment.

Compensation
Anticipated salary range is $75,000-$90,000, commensurate with education and experience.
