Position Overview
The incumbent will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing a comprehensive communications strategy for the Commonwealth of Virginia's Office of Global Affairs and its affiliated divisions, including the International Studies Office, the Center for Global Inquiry and Innovation, the Global Studies Program, and the Center for Global Health Equity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary consultant to the Vice Provost for Global Affairs on all matters related to communications concerning the state's global initiatives.
  • Design and curate a monthly newsletter, incorporating contributions from various offices, to showcase internationally focused news and funding opportunities for the wider community.
  • Compile and edit an annual report that highlights the state's global engagement, drawing insights from different schools, centers, and institutes.
  • Regularly collaborate with the chief global affairs officer to tailor communications materials that align with donor interests.
  • Oversee and contribute content to the Office of Global Affairs' social media platforms.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of current websites for the Office of Global Affairs and its partners.
  • Establish and nurture a network of internal and external media contacts to promote news related to the state's global activities.
  • Coordinate public programming focused on global themes, including speaker support, publicity management, invitation coordination, venue arrangements, and logistical assistance.
  • Lead bi-annual meetings with various entities to synchronize scheduling for globally-oriented events.
  • Supervise the occasional part-time work of a graduate student intern.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Proficiency in managing social media accounts.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proactive in building interpersonal networks and gathering information.
  • Effective project management capabilities.
  • Sound strategic judgment in prioritizing tasks.
This position operates in a hybrid capacity.

Compensation: Anticipated salary range is $75,000-$90,000, based on qualifications and experience.
