POSITION SUMMARY:

This role reports directly to the Site Director at the Verona, MO facility and is responsible for overseeing the operations of a 24/7 production site. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety, quality, production, maintenance, and warehousing standards, as well as adherence to OSHA, EPA, FDA, and GMP regulations. The position also involves hiring and training personnel, optimizing processes, enhancing equipment reliability, and managing capital projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the Safety, Health, and regulatory initiatives on-site in collaboration with the site EH&S Coordinator and Corporate EH&S leadership.
  • Work closely with the Site Director to manage plant operations, including Production, Maintenance, Logistics, Warehouse, and Planning. Act as Site Leader during the Site Director's absence.
  • Oversee the management of the organization within the Verona facility, ensuring alignment with company policies and continuous improvement of operational capabilities.
  • Ensure production schedules are effectively aligned to meet order requirements and maintain appropriate finished goods inventory levels.
  • Prioritize resource allocation for maintenance, production, and project execution while participating in design reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Ensure food and feed safety in partnership with the site Quality Control Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Coordinate with the site QA Manager to guarantee compliance with industry and regulatory standards for quality and food safety.
  • Supervise multiple direct reports and conduct daily production meetings as necessary.
  • Engage with R&D and Commercial teams during production scale-up, validation, and customer trials.
  • Manage all financial aspects related to operations, including expenses and capital for the area of responsibility, ensuring adherence to budget commitments.
  • Oversee the implementation of process, equipment, and facility capital projects within the designated area.
  • Conduct or direct incident investigations for any occurrences related to Quality, Safety, or Productivity.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of experience, including over 5 years in production management within food, pharmaceutical, or high-purity chemical manufacturing. A solid understanding of basic chemistry principles is essential.
  • Experience in production planning methodologies.
  • Process Safety Management experience is mandatory.
  • Proven track record in process optimization, managing small projects, and enhancing process capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to conduct effective on-the-job training.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with bargaining unit/union environments is preferred.
