POSITION SUMMARY:

This role reports directly to the Site Director at the Verona, MO facility and is responsible for overseeing the operations of a 24/7 production environment. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety, quality, production, maintenance, and warehousing standards, as well as adherence to OSHA, EPA, FDA, and GMP regulations. The position also involves the recruitment and training of both new and existing staff, process optimization, enhancing equipment reliability, and the identification and execution of capital projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the Safety, Health, and regulatory initiatives on-site in collaboration with the site EH&S Coordinator and Corporate EH&S leadership.
  • Work closely with the Site Director to manage plant operations, including Production, Maintenance, Logistics, Warehouse, and Planning. Act as Site Leader during the Site Director's absences.
  • Oversee the overall management of the facility to align with company policies and continuously enhance operational capabilities.
  • Ensure production schedules are effectively managed to meet order fulfillment timelines while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Prioritize resource allocation for maintenance, production, and project execution, and engage in design reviews.
  • Coordinate efforts with cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee food and feed safety protocols in close partnership with the site Quality Control Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Collaborate with the site QA Manager to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards for product quality and safety.
  • Supervise multiple direct reports and facilitate daily production meetings as necessary.
  • Engage with R&D and Commercial teams during production scale-up, validation, and customer trials.
  • Manage all expenditures, including operational and capital costs, ensuring adherence to budget commitments.
  • Supervise the implementation of process, equipment, and facility capital projects.
  • Conduct or oversee incident investigations related to Quality, Safety, and Productivity.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5+ years in production management within food, pharmaceutical, or high-purity chemical manufacturing sectors. A solid understanding of basic chemistry principles is essential.
  • Experience in production planning methodologies.
  • Proven experience in Process Safety Management.
  • Demonstrated ability in process optimization, managing small projects, and enhancing process capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and various software tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Capability to conduct effective on-the-job training.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with bargaining units or unions is preferred.
