POSITION SUMMARY:

This role reports directly to the Site Director at the Verona, MO facility and is responsible for overseeing the operations of a 24/7 production environment. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety, quality, production, maintenance, and warehousing protocols, as well as adherence to OSHA, EPA, FDA, and GMP standards. The position also involves the recruitment and training of both new and existing staff, alongside responsibilities for process optimization, enhancing equipment reliability, and identifying and executing capital projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the Safety, Health, and regulatory initiatives on-site in collaboration with the site EH&S Coordinator and Corporate EH&S leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with the Site Director to manage plant operations, including Production, Maintenance, Logistics, Warehouse, and Planning. Act as Site Leader during the Site Director's absences.
  • Oversee the overall management of operations within the Verona facility, ensuring alignment with company policies and continuous improvement of organizational capabilities.
  • Ensure production schedules are effectively managed to meet order fulfillment within designated lead times while maintaining appropriate finished goods inventory levels.
  • Prioritize resource allocation for maintenance, production, and project execution, and engage in design reviews.
  • Coordinate activities with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure food and feed safety in collaboration with the site Quality Control Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Work with the site QA Manager to guarantee that all food products are produced in compliance with industry and regulatory quality and safety standards.
  • Supervise multiple direct reports and facilitate daily production meetings as necessary.
  • Engage with R&D and Commercial teams during production scale-up, validation, and customer trials.
  • Manage all expenditures, including operational and capital costs, for the area of responsibility, ensuring adherence to budget forecasts.
  • Oversee the implementation of process, equipment, and facility capital projects within the assigned area.
  • Conduct or oversee incident investigations for any occurrences related to Quality, Safety, or Productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of experience, including over 5 years in production management within food, pharmaceutical, or high-purity chemical manufacturing. A solid understanding of basic chemistry principles is essential.
  • Experience in production planning methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management is required.
  • Proven experience in process optimization, managing small projects, and enhancing process capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and various software tools.
  • Familiarity with advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to provide effective on-the-job training.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with bargaining unit/union environments is preferred.
