Job Overview:

The Counter Sales Specialist is responsible for enhancing sales and ensuring customer satisfaction by effectively and courteously assisting customers both in-person and over the phone in selecting and acquiring necessary products.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist customers at the sales counter by accurately processing orders and entering them into the system.
  • Utilize electronic and printed catalogs to provide customers with product details, pricing, and availability.
  • Adhere to company pricing and credit policies.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Efficiently retrieve orders from the warehouse.
  • Boost sales and average order size through cross-selling, up-selling, and promoting special offers.
  • Encourage sales of overstock, damaged, and discontinued items.
  • Manage customer complaints and returns with a positive demeanor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales and counter areas.
  • Ensure counter inventory is well-stocked and manage impulse sales effectively.
  • Participate in scheduled inventory counts as needed.
  • Engage in company-sponsored sales initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve customer service issues efficiently.
  • Perform light warehouse duties as assigned.
  • Utilize order entry systems and other technologies as required.
  • Attend product training sessions.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and uphold company ethics and values.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and customers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Use office equipment and personal computers effectively.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor.

Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years in a similar role or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Candidates should have at least 1-2 years in a progressive position and must pass a drug screening and background check.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The role requires frequent standing and walking, as well as sitting. Candidates must possess hand and finger dexterity, and the ability to communicate effectively. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts may occur. The position may involve lifting and moving items up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
