Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team at Parkland Health and Hospital System. As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to expectant mothers and their newborns, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to laboring patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including vital signs, fetal heart rate monitoring, and other relevant data.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patients' unique needs and preferences.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure clear understanding of care plans and progress.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in labor and delivery care.
Requirements
  • Current RN license in the state of Texas or compact state.
  • Two years of experience in labor and delivery nursing, or completion of Parkland's Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Residency Program.
  • Current certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple patients simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Work Schedule

This is a per diem position, requiring a minimum of 36 hours per week, including at least one weekend shift per pay period. Employees are also required to work two major holidays and one minor holiday per year.

Please note that this is a regular relief status position with no benefit eligibility. Employees will be expected to float to areas within their skillset as needed and maintain competency in those areas.
