Job Summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to expectant mothers and their newborns, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to laboring patients, stable neonates, recovering, ECU, and postpartum patients, exercising independent judgment in providing safe nursing care.
  • Perform appropriate patient assessments, recognizing changes in patient condition and providing appropriate interventions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement individualized plans of care, ensuring patient-centered and patient-valued care.
  • Administer medications safely, utilizing the patient's 6 rights, and maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Participate in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff to support the standards, missions, goals, and objectives of the department and PHHS.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations to supervisors, implementing and monitoring results as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Two years of Labor & Delivery experience or successful completion of Parkland's Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Residency Program or Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Fellowship Program.
  • Current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certificate, AWHONN Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring certificate, or National Corporation Certification (NCC) Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification.
