Job Summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to expectant mothers and their newborns, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to laboring patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including vital signs, fetal heart rate monitoring, and other relevant data.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patients' unique needs and preferences.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure optimal care and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in labor and delivery care.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Texas or compact state.
  • Two years of experience in labor and delivery nursing, or completion of Parkland's Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Residency Program.
  • Current certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple patients simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
