Engineering Geology Consultant

Mott MacDonald is a leading engineering and advisory consultancy, with a significant presence in the West Coast transportation and infrastructure and water/wastewater sector. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Geotechnics Practice as a Principal Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and deliver geological field investigations, analyses, consulting reporting, and design evaluations for transport, water, energy, built environment, and advisory business sectors.
- Build internal and external client relationships with other engineering disciplines and project managers, and clients in the business sectors.
- Lead proposal efforts and compile proposals for ground investigation, geohazards evaluations, and mitigation design, and rock characterization services.
- Manage subconsultants and subcontractors to provide ground investigation services including drillers, utility locators, surveyors, traffic control, and geotechnical laboratories.
- Manage a team of geologists, engineering geologists, and geotechnical engineers to deliver geotechnical investigations, geoseismic evaluations, geotechnical numerical modeling, and hydrogeological services.
- Interaction with our global practice community to coordinate geotechnical delivery in the West Unit market.
- Participation and engagement with the geo community in the local area.
- Long-term development and supervision of a team of staff to augment Mott MacDonald's global capacity in engineering geological and geotechnical design and consulting delivery.
- Master's degree in engineering geology, geology, civil or geotechnical engineering (Bachelor's considered).
- Strong interpersonal skills, record of client engagement to deliver geological design and consulting, and ability to communicate results to a diverse audience that may comprise a non-geoprofessional audience, technically-oriented clients, other practitioners and researchers.
- Professional geologist (PG) license in California or ability to obtain one within 6 months, Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) license in California or ability to obtain one.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering geology consulting (not including education).
- Proficient use of geological skills and software (e.g. GIS, CRSP, Rocscience, RockWorks, LeapFrog, GeoStudio packages/Slide, stereonets, modflow).
- Proven track record in designing engineering geological solutions.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Mott MacDonald offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 - $185,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, STD/LTD disability, holiday, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance.
