National Account Manager

The Sr. National Account Manager will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth and brand expansion within our national retail accounts. This individual will be responsible for leading strategic account management, developing customer-specific sales strategies, and collaborating cross-functionally to align with the Eat Meati brand vision. As a senior leader, you will also provide direction to the team on account strategies, marketing initiatives, and promotional planning to achieve ambitious business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the management and growth of relationships with key national retail accounts, ensuring the achievement of sales targets and overall business objectives.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for major customers, cultivating collaborative partnerships and negotiating favorable terms to drive mutual success.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to optimize revenue, profitability, and market share, including long-term growth strategies.
- Guide broker partners in executing account strategies and initiatives to maximize sales performance.
Marketing and Promotional Planning:
- Collaborate with internal teams to lead the development of high-impact customer-specific marketing, promotional, and merchandising programs.
- Ensure customer-level promotional plans align with brand goals and are tailored to drive product visibility, maximize shelf space, and boost consumer engagement.
- Analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and promotions, utilizing insights to refine strategies and achieve key performance indicators.
Sales Forecasting and Strategic Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of sales forecasts, providing strategic insights into customer performance, emerging trends, and potential risks or opportunities.
- Monitor market dynamics, competitive activities, and consumer trends to proactively identify growth opportunities and strategic challenges.
- Present detailed sales reports, account performance reviews, and recommendations to senior leadership to inform decision-making and business strategy.
Cross-functional Leadership:
- Partner with Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Product Development teams to ensure alignment on customer needs, product availability, and promotional execution.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to enhance account performance, support new product launches, and optimize supply chain processes.
- Provide feedback to the product development team based on customer insights and market demands to influence future product innovation.
Customer Experience and Strategic Engagement:
- Act as a senior brand ambassador, ensuring exceptional service delivery and creating value for retail partners through strategic initiatives.
- Conduct in-depth business reviews with key accounts, offering insights on category performance, identifying growth opportunities, and aligning on future strategies.
- Leverage relationships with national HQ grocers (e.g., Kroger, Albertsons, Publix) to strengthen Eat Meati's market position and expand shelf presence.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of sales experience in a CPG environment, with a proven track record of managing national accounts and driving growth (grocery, mass, or specialty retail experience preferred).
- Bachelor's degree required (Business, Management, or Marketing preferred). An MBA is a plus.
- Experience in plant-based, natural, or 'better-for-you' food products preferred.
- Strong understanding of account management, promotional planning, and trade marketing at a senior level.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence both internal teams and external partners, driving collaborative success.
- Data-driven approach to decision-making with experience in sales forecasting, performance analysis, and reporting.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior decision-makers and building long-term partnerships.
- Start-up Agility: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth start-up environment with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 40% to manage account relationships and execute key initiatives.
