Job Summary

The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Director to lead the charge in shaping our people strategy and driving the growth and culture of our 75-person organization. As a strategic HR leader, you will oversee the talent lifecycle, cultivate a strong culture and inclusive workplace, and be accountable for career pathing, succession planning, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Administer human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance and talent management, team productivity, recognition, engagement, training and development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Conduct research, analysis of organizational trends, and make recommendations, including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and recent technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to the leadership team.
  • Design and implement employee retention programs.
  • Develop and implement departmental budget.
  • Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • At least 10 years of work experience, including at least 5-7 in strategic HR and HR systems, people & culture work, performance management, and talent acquisition.
  • Excellent judgment, self-awareness, and an action-oriented approach.
  • Great strategic thinking, prioritization, and organization skills.
  • Ability to communicate to individuals, groups, and employees about priorities, policies, and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; master's degree a plus.
  • At least five to seven years of human resource management experience required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational business partnering roles.
