POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Production Operations will spearhead the corporate manufacturing functions for Seaboard's international food business, which operates in over 20 countries. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader, dedicated to driving initiatives that promote manufacturing excellence. This role involves optimizing production processes, implementing efficiency improvements, and nurturing a culture of continuous enhancement. With a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, the VP will lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence and foster sustainable growth. Responsibilities include ensuring the efficient production of goods while upholding high standards in production, quality, safety, food safety, and compliance with the Operational Excellence Model.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Formulate and implement manufacturing strategies that align with the company's overarching goals as outlined in the Long-Range Plan.
  • Ensure operations adhere to business and departmental objectives, monitoring KPIs and action plans set by Regional Operations Directors.
  • Establish control and monitoring systems for manufacturing plans to optimize production capacities while consistently meeting or exceeding productivity and profitability targets.
  • Develop and manage operational improvement plans focusing on staff development, efficiency, and compliance with standards and goals.
  • Lead and cultivate a high-performing manufacturing team through effective hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Participate in the analysis, preparation, and monitoring of CAPEX and OPEX to drive improvements in manufacturing processes.
  • Work with departments such as sales, marketing, and finance to align manufacturing activities with sales forecasts and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing, seeking opportunities to leverage new technologies to enhance processes.
  • Ensure robust systems and controls are in place for raw material storage, handling, and production processes.
  • Support the development of new products and the expansion of existing product lines.
  • Lead teams focused on the Operational Excellence management model.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Milling Sciences, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of management experience in a senior manufacturing role, particularly in the milling, baking, or food industry.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale manufacturing operations within a complex and regulated environment.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a high-performing manufacturing team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Manufacturing Professional (CMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are advantageous.
  • Proven ability to implement technical solutions and best practices across facilities.
