About the Role

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Vice President of Development and Fundraising to join our senior leadership team. This key position will be responsible for developing and leading the financial development strategy for the association, providing leadership and managing the financial development team, and attaining annual fundraising goals in collaboration with Y volunteers and senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Lead Financial Development Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive financial development strategy that aligns with the YMCA's mission, vision, and culture.
  • Lead Financial Development Team: Provide leadership and management to the financial development team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to achieve their goals.
  • Attain Annual Fundraising Goals: Collaborate with Y volunteers and senior leadership team to develop and attain annual fundraising goals, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants.
  • Develop and Implement Capital Campaigns: Develop and lead capital campaigns to support the YMCA's strategic initiatives and goals.
  • Participate in Strategic Direction: Participate in the development of the YMCA's strategic direction, including the endowment and planned giving strategies.
  • Represent the YMCA: Represent the YMCA in the community, with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government entities.
  • Develop and Implement Fundraising Materials: Develop and implement fundraising materials, including collateral, events, and digital campaigns, to effectively communicate the YMCA's mission and impact.
  • Provide Leadership and Training: Provide leadership and training to the financial development team, volunteers, and staff on fundraising best practices, donor relations, and stewardship.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Five years of proven professional experience in financial development, fundraising, or a related field, with a proven track record of success.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve their goals.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, with a deep understanding of the YMCA's mission, vision, and culture.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, with the ability to adapt to new software and technology.
