What You Will Do:
This role is designated for either the Learning Specialist 2 or 3 level, contingent upon the qualifications of the chosen candidate. The Utilities and Infrastructure Division is in search of a Learning Specialist to support the training operations within the division. This division is tasked with the upkeep and management of the Laboratory's utility systems, which encompass electric, gas, sewer, steam, and water services. Furthermore, the division oversees the maintenance of all open spaces on-site, including roads and grounds, as well as the Laboratory's Sustainability Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing training leadership and comprehensive management of the training requirements for the division. The selected individual will report to the Operations Support & Improvement group leader and will collaborate closely with operations support staff, administrative personnel, and team members assigned to the Utilities and Infrastructure Division to ensure optimal support for the division.

Learning Specialist 2:
This position entails the development of training materials utilizing a systematic methodology to guarantee that personnel can execute assigned tasks safely within the Laboratory's nuclear and high-hazard environments. Additionally, the candidate will document decisions related to sustainability and potential program evaluations. The selected individual will collaborate with senior training staff to oversee and instruct on the maintenance of the established training and qualification program while also contributing to the creation of new training materials.

Learning Specialist 3:
Beyond the responsibilities outlined for the lower level, this position will act as a representative of the training and qualification program, consulting with stakeholders as a program owner and serving as a decision-maker/expert.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Knowledge and Expertise: Proficient understanding of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) and the tools utilized in the development and execution of formal training programs. Familiarity with training requirements for nuclear facilities and/or development in a compliance-driven environment.

Performance: Experience in evaluating requirements, conducting analyses, developing individual training products, implementing training, and assisting with evaluation methodologies. Proficiency in utilizing a learning management system to effectively execute training programs. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

Accountability: Experience handling confidential or proprietary information, classified documents, or sensitive data, including PII training records. A solid understanding of safety and security obligations as they pertain to individual responsibilities and training activities.

Communication & Customer Service: Proven skills in interpersonal, written, and verbal communication. Ability to effectively transfer knowledge to both technical and non-technical personnel. Demonstrated capability in providing high-level customer service in a predominantly remote work environment.

Additional Job Requirements for Learning Specialist 3:

Education/Experience for Learning Specialist 2: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 4 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience for Learning Specialist 3: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Qualified in the Laboratory's Training Staff Qualification Program (TSQP).
  • Familiar with DOE O 426.2 or equivalent and the Laboratory's P781 series documents.
  • Expertise in nuclear facility-related subject matter or highly regulated training environments.
  • DOE Q-clearance is highly desired.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) experience.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid, defined as working partially onsite and partially offsite but within a reasonable commuting distance. All work locations are subject to management discretion and may change with appropriate notice.
