We are seeking a highly skilled Health Physicist 2/3 to join our Radiation Protection Services team at RP-SVS. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical advice and support on radiation protection instrumentation, customer service, troubleshooting, type testing, and collaboration with manufacturers to develop or improve instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities- Support the testing, evaluation, maintenance, and calibration of fixed and portable radiation protection instrumentation.
- Provide technical support for routine and special operations at the Central Health Physics Calibration Facility for x-ray, gamma, and neutron RP instruments.
- Perform special calibrations using various radiation sources and evaluate existing and proposed instrumentation.
- Participate in the development, evaluation, and implementation of new methods to improve radiation protection practices related to radiation protection instrumentation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physical Science, or related field.
- 5-8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health physics concepts and practices, including radiation detection and 10CFR835 and ANSI guidelines.
- Experience in providing solutions to complex problems requiring applied engineering and scientific principles.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge and experience in the calibration, testing, selection, and use of radiation monitoring instruments.
- Experience with analog and digital electronic troubleshooting and repair at the component level.
- Ability to develop and test the performance of newly developed radiation detection instrumentation.
- Experience with the handling and use of radioactive sources.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, modify, and implement technical procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with personal computers and radiation transport codes.
This position requires a Q clearance, which requires US citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances.
