Position Summary:

The Sous Chef plays a vital role in assisting the Executive Chef with the management of kitchen activities, ensuring the creation, presentation, and service of top-notch culinary offerings. This position entails overseeing kitchen efficiency, guiding staff, and contributing to menu innovation while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Leadership
    • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to design and implement menus.
    • Supervise kitchen personnel to ensure seamless operations.
    • Monitor food preparation and presentation to uphold established quality standards.
    • Manage staffing levels to optimize productivity while controlling food and labor costs.
  • Team Development
    • Train and guide kitchen staff in recipes and cooking techniques.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to kitchen team members.
    • Enforce performance standards and provide necessary discipline in accordance with company policies.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Maintain exceptional standards for food quality and presentation.
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Oversee food cost management and minimize waste.
    • Establish a cleaning and maintenance schedule for kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Menu Innovation
    • Work alongside the Executive Chef on menu planning and development.
    • Propose creative ideas for new dishes based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
  • Inventory Management
    • Assist in overseeing kitchen inventory and ordering supplies.
    • Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients to reduce waste.
    • Implement security measures for kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure kitchen operations align with company policies and safety standards.
    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
    • Implement safety procedures in accordance with health regulations.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Address kitchen-related issues promptly and effectively.
    • Adapt to changing circumstances to maintain operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in a management role within a culinary environment.
