Position Summary:
The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation, presentation, and delivery of outstanding dishes across various dining venues. This role encompasses maintaining kitchen productivity, supervising staff, and contributing to menu innovation while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Leadership
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing diverse menus.
- Oversee kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality food preparation.
- Ensure food presentation meets established standards.
- Manage staffing levels to optimize productivity while controlling food and labor costs.
Staff Development
- Train and guide kitchen personnel, ensuring adherence to recipes and culinary techniques.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively among kitchen staff.
- Enforce performance standards and address any disciplinary issues as necessary.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain exceptional standards of food quality and presentation.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor food costs and minimize waste through efficient resource management.
- Establish a routine cleaning and maintenance schedule for kitchen areas and equipment.
Menu Innovation
- Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu development and seasonal offerings.
- Provide creative input for new dishes based on customer preferences and ingredient availability.
Inventory Management
- Assist in overseeing kitchen inventory and ordering supplies.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients to reduce waste.
- Implement security measures for kitchen equipment and supplies.
Compliance and Standards
- Ensure kitchen operations align with company policies and industry standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Implement safety procedures in accordance with health regulations.
- Conduct daily inspections of kitchen cleanliness and staff performance.
Problem Resolution
- Quickly address and resolve any kitchen-related issues.

Additional Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:

Education and Experience:

Certifications:
- ServSafe certification is required.
