Job Overview

As a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer at Impulse Space, you will take charge of all elements related to vehicle guidance and control throughout various stages of development and operational phases, collaborating with a dynamic and agile team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust control algorithms for various spacecraft, including satellite buses in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO), as well as large upper stages and landers.
  • Generate verification data for control systems across Impulse's mission portfolio.
  • Engage in GNC software development, encompassing both flight code and simulation environments.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and establish best practices for vehicle control systems.
  • Develop tools to facilitate rapid realization of missions for all flight vehicle GNC systems.
  • Address technical challenges with innovative and resourceful solutions.
  • Effectively communicate design requirements, intentions, and capabilities to the broader engineering team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in spacecraft control design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and C++ programming languages.
  • Ability to conduct control analysis in both time and frequency domains.
  • Familiarity with vehicle-GNC design processes, from initial concept through design reviews and implementation.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in upper stage or lander control systems.
  • Experience in satellite GNC design and operational processes.
  • Background in a startup or agile development environment.
Additional Information:

Compensation structures are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual compensation and base salary are assessed on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, full-time hires may also qualify for long-term incentives, such as stock options, and access to medical, vision, and dental coverage, along with a 401(k) retirement plan.

To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., or eligible to obtain the necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
