Job Overview

As a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer at Impulse Space, you will be responsible for overseeing and significantly contributing to the technical aspects of vehicle guidance and control throughout all stages of development and operation. You will collaborate closely with a dynamic and agile team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust control algorithms for various spacecraft, including satellite buses in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO), as well as large upper stages and landers.
  • Generate control verification data for Impulse's diverse mission portfolio.
  • Engage in GNC software development, encompassing both flight code and simulation environments.
  • Provide mentorship to fellow engineers and establish best practices for vehicle control systems.
  • Develop tools that facilitate the rapid realization of flight vehicle GNC systems.
  • Address technical challenges with innovative and resourceful solutions.
  • Effectively communicate design requirements, intentions, and capabilities to the broader engineering team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in spacecraft control design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and C++ programming languages.
  • Ability to conduct control analysis in both time and frequency domains.
  • Familiarity with vehicle-GNC design processes, from initial concept through design reviews and implementation.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with upper stage or lander control systems.
  • Background in satellite GNC design and operations.
  • Experience working in a startup or agile development environment.
Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay are assessed on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, full-time hires may also be eligible for long-term incentives, such as stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
