In the Defense Systems Group (DSG), we deliver analysis-driven decision support to senior officials on space architectures, policy, strategy, developmental planning, and system engineering to influence future space missions across the national security landscape. DSG's unique position allows it to directly assist major clients, including Air Force Space Command and U.S. Strategic Command, while also offering extensive services across the national space framework.
As a Senior Project Leader - Space-Ground Systems Engineer within the Space Based Sensing Division, you will spearhead Aerospace's contributions to the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution ground system acquisition programs. This role involves supporting the development of Next Generation overhead persistent infrared (OPIR) systems for missile warning and tracking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver system integration expertise for the Next Generation OPIR Program's Ground System.
- Utilize structured system integration methodologies to identify and resolve technical discrepancies.
- Engage in program assessments and risk evaluations to inform management of potential issues and recommend actionable solutions.
- Oversee contractor system integration strategies and detailed planning for functional and performance testing.
- Establish critical decision points and milestones to ensure successful transitions from development to operational phases.
- Represent Aerospace in technical forums and program meetings.
- Support the development and verification of space-ground interfaces.
- Provide leadership in addressing non-conformance and major technical challenges.
- Coordinate team efforts in support of customer activities.
- Maintain effective communication with customers and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
- A minimum of twelve years of relevant engineering experience, including systems engineering and program management.
- Experience in the development and implementation of space-ground systems.
- Prior leadership or project management experience in engineering contexts.
- Active secret clearance with the capability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Willingness to travel periodically.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a STEM field.
- Hands-on knowledge of ground system architectures.
- Technical insight into the current threat landscape.
- Experience in a matrixed engineering organization.
- Ability to work collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer engagement skills with the ability to facilitate communication between technical teams and clients.
- Proven experience with Aerospace backplane/ETG.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
