Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Utilizes principles from chemistry, physics, and materials science to formulate specifications for materials and processes involving thermoplastic, thermoset, and high-temperature composites.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks in composite manufacturing processes, aiming to minimize quality issues at both internal and supplier facilities.
  • Collaborates with production teams and R&D project leaders to support the integration of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Evaluates and certifies new composite manufacturing facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure adherence to engineering specifications.
  • Conducts analysis of composite material properties to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Reviews and endorses engineering documentation to assist in troubleshooting part failures during production and assembly.
  • Applies expertise in aerospace structural component fabrication to influence R&D strategies and initiatives.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, preferably from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Typically requires 2 to 4 years of relevant engineering experience, or a Master's degree with up to 2 years of experience.
  • Basic understanding of various chemical processing techniques, including anodizing, conversion coating, and plating.
  • Engages primarily with mentors, team members, and direct supervisors.
  • Assists in developing test plans, coordinating testing activities, and drafting material and process specifications.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously or collaboratively.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience with CATIA and/or NX for 3D modeling and drawing generation.
  • Exhibits strong time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a multifunctional team environment.
  • Familiarity with aircraft manufacturing standards, materials, and processes.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing test plans and overseeing test execution.
