Job Overview

The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is tasked with implementing and enhancing critical initiatives within the supplier quality domain. This role encompasses a variety of supplier quality engineering functions, including Compliance, Process, and Product Audits, Material Review Board (MRB) activities, First Article Inspection (FAI) witnessing, and the execution of Problem Solving and Corrective and Preventive Actions. The engineer will also engage in Supplier Performance Reporting and other quality enhancement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify, apply, and sustain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols.
  • Explain testing and inspection plans, methods, and technologies to ensure product and process reliability and compliance.
  • Analyze and develop recommendations for corrective actions regarding nonconformities and design issues for products and processes produced internally.
  • Utilize core elements of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) such as PFMEA, MSA, and Control Plans to identify risks in product development and propose effective risk management strategies.
  • Review requirements for work transfer and process change management, ensuring compliance with Resourcing Gate and PPAP acceptance.
  • Examine process control documentation to verify adherence to requirements and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain quality evaluation and control systems for materials processed into finished products.
  • Collaborate with product design teams to create testing plans and methods that assure product reliability.
  • Formulate proactive quality initiative strategies and oversee their implementation.
  • Design and execute product engineering modifications to address quality concerns raised by clients.
  • Oversee both Program and Product Quality Engineering functions.
  • Lead the development of new inspection technologies or methodologies to ensure product conformity.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of practical experience as a Quality Engineer in the Aerospace Manufacturing sector.
  • 5-8 years of experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
  • Strong grasp of various Engineering Processes, Standard Drawing Conventions, and GD&T.
  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience with ISO9100 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems, particularly in Production and Quality.
  • Familiarity with FAA, EAR, and ITAR standards and regulations is preferred.
  • Experience leading customer audits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management, time management, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and lead other team members.

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Quality Engineering tools and systems such as DOE, FMEA, SPC, RCCA, APQP, and MSA is preferred.

General Requirements:

  • Must pass background and drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance are required.
  • Vision exam required prior to hire, with specific acuity standards.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for certain defense contracts.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution (mechanical, chemical, aerospace).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a process engineer or in manufacturing.

Working Conditions:

  • Incumbents must perform work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Physical activities may include light lifting and prolonged sitting.
  • Typical office conditions with collaboration among Quality management teams and external clients.
  • Regular working hours with potential for occasional extended hours.
