The Senior Vice President of Issue Management will report directly to the Director of Issue Management and will collaborate closely with the Global Business & Risk Controls Team, as well as key stakeholders throughout the organization. This role is pivotal in leading initiatives aimed at enhancing and sustaining the enterprise issue management framework. The SVP will focus on improving the ongoing functionality of the program, which encompasses policies, standards, and execution related to issue identification, root cause analysis, remediation, closure, monitoring, reporting, and escalation to ensure thorough, consistent, accurate, and timely resolution of issues.

  • The individual will spearhead workstreams and reviews, guiding a diverse group of stakeholders to produce high-quality deliverables. Regular guidance will be provided to frontline units across various projects and business functions. This position will serve as the primary lead for specific workstreams, responsible for the completion of assigned tasks and reviews, addressing challenges, and creating relevant presentations while ensuring the delivery of superior output. An initial emphasis will be placed on high-severity issues and areas highlighted by regulators as needing immediate attention. Over time, the focus will shift to Business-as-Usual (BAU) control issues and their oversight.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead projects related to comprehensive issue management, including thorough root cause analysis, remediation efforts, and management reporting of identified issues within the control framework and existing business processes.
  • Ensure project compliance with relevant policies that facilitate consistent execution of root cause analyses utilizing best practice methodologies.
  • Implement reporting processes that provide progress updates and measurable outcomes regarding program effectiveness over time.
  • Oversee the creation of concise presentations for review by senior leadership.
  • Assess business processes for efficiency and the adequacy of controls, in collaboration with the Director.
  • Foster high-quality relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Proactively anticipate next steps and potential challenges to mitigate delays or obstacles.
  • Employ critical thinking in evaluating business challenges, articulating problem statements clearly, and guiding the development of logical, pragmatic control recommendations and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A degree from a prestigious academic institution.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in the financial services sector.
  • Proven experience in leading and directing deliverables, providing recommendations, and taking initiative on projects or team assignments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt dynamically to various priorities.
  • Highly organized with a capacity to lead team members within specific workstreams or reviews.
  • Demonstrated success in completing assigned tasks in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Ability to drive outcomes independently, solve problems autonomously, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage with colleagues across diverse businesses, regions, and cultures.
  • Experience in developing control frameworks, risk frameworks, and controls development across business processes or technology, potentially in a consulting or strategic capacity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within and across project teams, functional areas, and business units.
