Position: Logistics Coordinator

Type: Contract Position

Compensation: $23 per hour

Role Summary:

The Logistics Coordinator is accountable for managing the billing processes associated with carriers and service providers. This role involves meticulous review and analysis of freight bills, ensuring timely resolution of any discrepancies.

The individual will oversee the organization of material transportation for both inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with relevant sales or purchase orders and incoterms. This includes the preparation and documentation necessary for domestic transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Summarize and process freight invoices from service providers efficiently.
  • Engage with transportation providers to obtain necessary billing documentation.
  • Enhance the efficiency of the billing cycle from freight bill receipt to client payment, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Review freight billing to ensure alignment with expected costs and manage disputes as needed.
  • Facilitate payment processing of freight bills within the ERP system.
  • Coordinate freight bookings for domestic movements between various stakeholders.
  • Contribute strategically to proposals, transportation budgets, and project executions to meet transportation needs.
  • Assist local project teams to maintain high service levels and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support purchasing efforts by negotiating and evaluating carrier rates, leveraging data and expertise.
  • Ensure excellent customer service is maintained with carriers.
  • Audit import/export documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in internal audits to validate documentation accuracy.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of freight market dynamics and constraints.
  • Familiarity with terms of sale and freight billing processes.
  • Experience in transportation operations.
  • Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to assess risks related to import/export and transportation.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills with a focus on developing and implementing solutions.
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP.
  • General knowledge of import/export regulations and documentation.
  • Understanding of shipping and receiving processes.
  • Basic principles of logistics risk management.
  • Strong customer service capabilities.
  • Familiarity with material handling safety principles.
  • Proficient in general IT tools.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation management or import/export management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in the logistics industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present organized and thorough information.
