LEAPS Summer Program

The LEAPS (LEArning Practicum for Students) summer program is a premier opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. Established in 1984, this program provides a comprehensive learning experience, combining training, daily job functions, and company networking events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Engineer
    • Provide technical support for issue resolution and tracking.
    • Manage project document control.
    • Process submittals and RFI's.
    • Support procurement in distributing bidding documents and tracking bidders.
    • Prepare and issue meeting minutes.
    • Assist with planning and managing site logistics.
  • Preconstruction
    • Conduct conceptual estimating on complex projects.
    • Identify project scope and budget.
    • Assist in developing a master design/construction schedule.
    • Participate in developing bid strategies.
    • Set up trade/vendor budgets.
    • Track historical data and price updates.
  • Superintendent
    • Support proactive pre-task safety planning for all work activities.
    • Supervise, coordinate, and sequence contractor work.
    • Monitor performance and coordinate work to maintain productivity of trades.
    • Oversee creation and completion of punch list.
    • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by enforcing contract requirements and limiting field changes.
    Requirements
    • Enrollment in a Construction Management, Engineering, or relevant degree program.
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Leadership experience among peers.
    • Junior/Senior level students must have prior construction industry internship experience.
    • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
