Reports To: Youth Services Coordinator

Compensation: Stipend: $500 for every 100 hours, Work Study opportunities available for eligible students

Schedule: Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and an additional day per week - Approximately 6-10 hours/week; some evening shifts required (until 8 PM)

Position Overview: This internship is essential in delivering programs aimed at supporting youth who have faced homelessness. Youth Engagement Program Interns leverage their unique skills and interests to create, implement, and engage young individuals in enriching activities while fostering supportive and constructive relationships with youth, families, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with staff and community partners to conduct program sessions.
  • Design and prepare developmentally appropriate enrichment activities for youth.
  • Lead activities during program sessions.
  • Build rapport with youth involved in the programs.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to volunteers.
  • Exemplify reliability and serve as a positive role model for youth, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment for all participants.
  • Assist in managing behavior and providing redirection as necessary.
  • Prepare program materials, snacks, and the activity space, and assist with post-session clean-up.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy program space.
  • Support additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently on designated tasks.
  • Experience working with youth in various settings (e.g., after-school programs, camps, tutoring).
  • Strong skills in communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management.
  • Dependable, responsible, adaptable, and patient.
  • Able to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and connect with a variety of youth.
  • Understanding of HIPPAA and data privacy regulations.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work on-site and interact directly with youth.

Work Environment:
