Reports To:
Children and Youth Services Coordinator

Compensation:
Stipend: $500 for every 100 hours, Work Study for eligible students

Schedule:
Wednesday 4:00pm - 8:00pm and an additional day per week - Approximately 6-10 hours/week; some evening hours required (until 8pm)

Position Overview:
This role is essential in delivering engaging programming for youth who have faced homelessness.

As a Youth Program Assistant, you will leverage your unique strengths and interests to create, facilitate, and engage young individuals in enriching activities while fostering supportive and positive relationships with youth, their families, and community volunteers.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with staff and program partners to execute program sessions.
  • Design and prepare age-appropriate enrichment activities for youth.
  • Lead activities during program sessions.
  • Build rapport with youth participating in the programs.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to volunteers.
  • Serve as a positive role model through consistent attendance and reliability, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment for youth, volunteers, and staff.
  • Assist with behavior management and redirection as necessary.
  • Prepare program materials, snacks, and the program space, and assist with cleanup.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy program space.
  • Support additional projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on designated tasks.
  • Experience working with youth (after-school programs, camp counseling, tutoring, etc.).
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Dependable, responsible, flexible, and patient.
  • Able to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and connect with diverse youth.
  • Ability to comply with HIPPAA and data privacy regulations.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work on-site and interact directly with youth.
