About the Role

The South Bend Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Assistant to join our team. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical operations of our Urology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing triage and management of office flow to meet patient's medical and service needs.
  • Perform the technical component of the department's clinical procedures competently.
  • Document all patient care thoroughly, objectively, and concisely, adhering to legal guidelines.
  • Communicate patient care effectively, adhering to legal guidelines.
  • Receive patients professionally in waiting areas and room them according to department protocol.
  • Maintain accurate and current logs for equipment, including refrigerator temperature, autoclave, eyewash, and crash cart.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage for pre-certification, referrals, and/or authorizations and document in NextGen.
  • Apply knowledge of general insurance guidelines and requirements to direct patient care.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Cross-train in other positions as determined by the manager.
  • Exhibit computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions.
  • Demonstrate the attitudes and behaviors of The South Bend Clinic Service Standards.
Requirements
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or non-certified with MA experience.
  • Team player, professional, and customer service oriented.
  • Proficient computer skills, including EMR, highly organized, ability to multi-task, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work with a diverse patient base of all ages.
  • Assist with clinical procedures specific to the department.
  • Perform basic back office skills, including medication administration, injections, bandaging, and accurately collect height, weight, and BP.
  • Able to anticipate the needs of the physician and require minimal supervision.
