About the Role

The South Bend Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our Urology Department team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering top-notch medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing triage and management of office flow to meet patient's medical and service needs, ensuring optimal patient flow.
  • Perform the technical component of the department's clinical procedures competently, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Document all patient care thoroughly, objectively, and concisely, following appropriate legal guidelines.
  • Communicate patient care effectively, ensuring clear and concise information is shared with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Receives patients professionally in waiting areas and rooms them according to department protocol.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date logs for equipment, including refrigerator temperature, autoclave, eyewash, and crash cart.
  • Verifies patient insurance coverage for pre-certification, referrals, and/or authorizations, documenting in NextGen.
  • Applies knowledge of general insurance guidelines and requirements to direct patient care.
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Cross-trains in other positions as determined by the manager, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
  • Exhibits proficiency in computer systems and software necessary for job functions.
  • Demonstrates the attitudes and behaviors of The South Bend Clinic Service Standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Adheres to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or previous Medical Assistant experience.
  • Team player, professional, and customer service oriented.
  • Proficient computer skills, including EMR, highly organized, ability to multi-task, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work with diverse patient base of all ages.
  • Assist with clinical procedures specific to the department.
  • Perform basic back office skills, including medication administration, injections, bandaging, and accurately collect height, weight, and BP.
  • Able to anticipate the needs of the physician and require minimal supervision.
