Job Overview:

Purpose:Serve as a Healthcare Support Specialist, either Non-Certified or Certified, within a collaborative and mission-driven environment to aid in direct patient care tasks and related responsibilities, through cooperative planning and problem-solving, assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direct oversight of the Clinic Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective pre-visit preparation, including culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
  • Conduct intake interviews for new and returning patients in accordance with established protocols, providing guidance to patients/families regarding their roles and the organization's role in a medical home.
  • Prepare patients for examinations in alignment with the purpose of their appointments.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to clinical policies and procedures, ensuring all patient interactions are documented in Epic in a manner consistent with professional standards.
  • Perform related duties essential for ensuring quality patient care as directed by the supervisor, including addressing barriers when patients have not achieved treatment goals.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations or any specialized procedures.
  • Manage phone communications, prescription refills, and MyChart inquiries from patients, routing as necessary and responding promptly.
  • Administer treatments and conduct screening tests as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper stocking of examination rooms, disinfecting surfaces daily.
  • Carry out supervised laboratory procedures as authorized by the Laboratory Director (Chief Medical Officer).
  • Assist with documentation during patient visits as required.
  • Process prior authorizations for medications and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Perform any additional duties necessary to support the organization's Vision, fulfill its Mission, and uphold its Values.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credentials from the National HealthCare Association (NHA) preferred or to be obtained within two years of employment.
  • Experience in women's health is highly desirable.
  • At least six months of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR), such as EPIC, is highly desirable.
  • Completion of Non-violent Crisis Intervention Comprehensive training class within six months of hire and recertification prior to expiration.
  • BLS certification to be obtained within six months of hire.

  • TB (test upon hire)
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing while working at a computer.
  • Repetitive hand motions, with some reaching, bending, and/or lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Exposure to ill individuals.
