The South Bend Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our team. As a Referral Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless communication between patients, physicians, and insurance providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and process insurance referrals or pre-authorizations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage for re-certification, referrals, and/or authorization, utilizing computer systems efficiently to document confirmation.
  • Obtain pertinent health information to process referrals and pre-authorizations.
  • Stay up-to-date on current CPT & ICD-9 coding and insurance requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and other service areas, utilizing professionalism and follow-through.
  • Observe department conditions and activities, taking action to deliver a positive patient experience.
  • Exhibit computer systems knowledge and proficiency to perform job functions.
  • Take initiative to seek out tasks and duties or assist others as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and practices.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, with previous phone experience and excellent customer service skills.
  • Computer skills and accurate typing required.
