About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sales Manager to join our team at Neiman Marcus. As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of sales associates and driving sales growth in a luxury retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Ownership
    • Develop and execute business strategies to achieve maximum sales and growth in line with company vision and values.
    • Oversee all aspects of merchandise and communications with merchant and vendor partners.
    • Manage team execution, anticipating and adjusting for risks and roadblocks to maintain operational excellence.
    • Provide input on strategic objectives for the store and set priorities accordingly.
    • Review business with applicable Buyers for department and discuss action plans that will yield positive results.
    • Establish plans and strategies in partnership with Client Development Lead(s).
    • Analyze internal and external customer behaviors, trends, and preferences, adjusting processes and standards accordingly.
    • Plan and execute departmental budgets and ensure guidelines are being followed to minimize operating expenses and maximize revenue.
    • Support audit compliance to enforce department and stockroom controls.
  • People
    • Manage people, product, and placement within department.
    • Recruit, hire, train, and develop sales team.
    • Own Associate performance management, career development, and coaching.
    • Recognize outstanding Associate performance, address opportunities for improvement, and quickly resolve issues.
    • Communicate expectations for Associate behavior and hold Associates accountable.
    • Manage team's daily prioritization of tasks.
    • Set goals for team in alignment with department objectives and support Associates in achieving them.
    • Oversee scheduling of department Associates with sensitivity to promotional calendar and business needs.
  • Customer Experience
    • Exhibit NMG culture and values, and create a friendly, upbeat atmosphere where customer service is consistent with Neiman Marcus standards.
    • Partner with Client Development, Brand Experience, Restaurants, Merchants, and Brands to deliver an extraordinary customer experience.
    • Maintain a strong presence on the floor and be aware of what is happening throughout the day.
    • Proactively build positive and productive relationships with vendors, customers, merchants, etc.
    • Build a cohesive customer service-driven team, overseeing customer service efforts and escalations.
    • Partner with functional leads for execution of in-store selling events.
    • Seek to help others by identifying and meeting the needs of the team, customers, partners, and the community.
    Requirements
    • 4-6 years of relevant experience, luxury retail fashion experience preferred.
    • 4-year degree preferred.
    • Proven track record achieving business results.
    • History of building, leading, motivating, and coaching teams to achieve objectives.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • 'Win together' mentality.
    • Basic proficiency with MS Office Product Suite, advanced proficiency preferred.
    • Certain roles may require standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
    • Associates must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business need, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
