About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the growth and success of The Johns Hopkins University's corporate partnerships efforts. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong track record of developing and executing strategic plans, building relationships, and driving collaborative initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate closely with The Johns Hopkins University faculty to identify opportunities for collaborations and partnerships.
  • Identify and develop relationships with potential new partners in medical and non-medical industries, both domestically and internationally.
  • Work with faculty and companies to identify opportunities for sponsored research projects, joint proposal submissions, and other collaborative initiatives.
  • Monitor and ensure that communications with partners are effective and that company needs are met.
  • Manage the university's Master's Co-Op program in conjunction with the Academic Program Administrator.
  • Recruit and match external partners, students, and university Faculty Advisors to enable the program to grow and succeed.
Collaborations and Agreements
  • Develop and process agreements necessary to facilitate interactions with companies, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, and Sponsored Research Agreements.
  • Work closely with the university's Technology Ventures office on translational activity and potential licensing/intellectual property opportunities.
  • Coordinate efforts on potential corporate partner identification and relationship management.
Strategic Planning and Portfolio Development
  • Assist the Associate Dean for Research in developing and facilitating a robust corporate strategy and portfolio in areas of interest to The Johns Hopkins University and the Whiting School of Engineering.
  • Maintain knowledge of WSE research and cultivate faculty and administrative relationships to identify research opportunities and partnerships.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Five years of related experience in a university or business development setting, with at least three years managing staff.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years related experience.
  • Ph.D. in science/engineering, MBA business, and/or JD law preferred; experience in technology transfer-related programs in an academic setting.
