Safety and Compliance Manager

The role of the Health and Safety Manager involves supporting the establishment, execution, and ongoing management of comprehensive Health & Safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate safety training and awareness sessions for personnel to foster a robust safety culture and adherence to regulations.
- Conduct thorough safety audits and inspections, providing recommendations for necessary corrective actions.
- Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and proposing preventive strategies to avert future occurrences.
- Perform regular safety evaluations to pinpoint potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant federal and state regulations.
- Assist in the safe management of hazardous materials, focusing on proper storage, handling, and disposal practices.
- Collaborate with both management and staff to cultivate a proactive safety environment.
- Support the development and revision of safety management systems and learning management systems as required by clients.
- Coordinate with emergency response teams to ensure best management practices are followed.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Monitor and enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Draft, review, and authorize Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) and Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) for various projects.
- Stay informed about current safety regulations, industry best practices, and state-specific safety rules.
- Prepare and deliver safety reports to both management and employees.

QualificationsCandidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as safety, environmental science, quality assurance, healthcare, or engineering, or have a qualifying combination of 8+ years of experience in operational safety, hazardous materials, or occupational safety disciplines.
A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in safety program management or working with hazardous materials, preferably in a remediation or response context, is required.
Maintaining certification through ongoing education and staying updated with industry developments is essential. A valid driver’s license and a clean motor vehicle record are also necessary.
