Position Overview

The Health and Safety Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a safe workplace environment. This position involves the development, execution, and ongoing enhancement of Health & Safety initiatives and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate safety training and awareness programs aimed at cultivating a culture of safety and adherence to regulations.
  • Conduct thorough safety audits and inspections, providing recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and proposing preventive measures to avert future occurrences.
  • Perform regular safety audits to pinpoint hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other federal/state regulations.
  • Support the safe management of hazardous materials, including their storage, handling, and disposal.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to enhance safety culture across the organization.
  • Assist in the development and updating of safety management systems and learning management systems (LMS) as required by clients.
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams to ensure best management practices are followed.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Monitor and enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Draft, review, and approve Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) and Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) for various projects.
  • Stay informed about current safety regulations, industry best practices, and state-specific rules.
  • Prepare and deliver safety reports to management and employees.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as safety, environmental science, quality, healthcare, or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (8+ years).
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in safety program management or working with hazardous materials, preferably in a remediation or response-related context.
  • Current certification and a commitment to ongoing education to stay updated with developments in the health and safety sector.
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
