As a Licensed School Therapist, your primary role will be to facilitate the academic, social, and emotional success of students through both individual and group therapy sessions. You will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to cultivate a safe and supportive educational environment that bridges the gap between home and school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting individual and group therapy sessions to address interpersonal or familial challenges that may hinder academic performance, including crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Interviewing students, families, and school staff to collect essential information for assessing students' social, emotional, and behavioral adaptation to their educational setting.
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with students' families to update them on progress, challenges, and any relevant changes in the home environment that may impact school performance.
  • Creating and revising Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIPs) in compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Participating in IEP team meetings and contributing to discussions regarding specific student and family concerns.
  • Collaborating with educational and social service professionals to ensure appropriate support services for students and their families.
  • Managing case functions for students, including organizing parent meetings, coordinating emergency transportation, and addressing disciplinary matters.
  • Working alongside teachers and other stakeholders to develop effective strategies for addressing learning and behavioral challenges, while promoting a positive organizational image.
  • Monitoring the implementation of positive teaching methods through regular observations and data collection.
  • Providing guidance to educators in developing classroom schedules and facilitating student transitions to ensure alignment with IEP goals.
  • Evaluating student progress through consistent review of data and providing necessary training to staff to meet student needs.
  • Serving as a role model for effective teaching practices and fostering communication and problem-solving among staff, emphasizing a data-driven approach to education.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in educational counseling, therapy, or a related field.
  • Compliance with state and district requirements for school counselor licensing and credentials.
  • Acceptable licenses include:
    • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - LMFT
    • Educational Psychologist
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW
    • Licensed Master Social Worker - LMSW
  • Special education certification is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with students with emotional disorders in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis is preferred.
  • Experience in special education program settings is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
