Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumber II to join our team at the North Carolina School of Science and Math in Durham. As a Plumber II, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled in the mechanical trades, including plumbing. This is a full-time, 12-month position with a salary range of $52,514 - $55,140.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing equipment, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
  • Inspect and test plumbing systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and extend the life of plumbing systems.
  • Coordinate with other facilities and operations staff and contractors to determine plumbing needs and repairs.
  • Complete work orders in SchoolDude, including corrective action and changes status from work in progress to complete.
  • Develop a good working relationship with customers, keep them informed, and follow up to ensure satisfaction.
  • Identify facilities-related plumbing problems that require in-depth analysis and identify resolutions.
  • Ensure all work meets and/or exceeds applicable codes and standards.
  • Follow up on work orders until completion.
  • Manage time effectively and remain focused on issues until complete.
  • Be on call for after-hours and weekend work.
  • Set up for various events on campus.
  • Assist with campus snow/ice removal.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Considerable knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to locate and correct defects in plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with no serious driving-related convictions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NC Plumbing License within 6 months of employment.
