Position Overview:
The City of Durham is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to take on the role of Water and Sewer Maintenance Supervisor. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance of essential water and sewer infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily field operations, ensuring compliance with safety and operational policies.
- Plan and prioritize work orders using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Collaborate with Field Supervisors to maintain effective communication and operational efficiency.
- Conduct performance evaluations and monitor staff effectiveness in achieving work objectives.
- Manage procurement processes and assist in budget preparation.
- Provide customer assistance and address inquiries or concerns regarding services.
Work Environment:
This role requires the ability to work in various weather conditions and may involve a weeklong rotation for emergency stand-by duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience.
- Two years of relevant equipment operation or maintenance experience.
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- Valid North Carolina Class C driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days.
- OSHA Competent Person and Trenching/Shoring certifications (or ability to obtain within one year).
Preferred Skills:
- NC CDL Tanker and/or Hazmat endorsements.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
- NC Grade C Water Distribution certification or higher.
- NC Grade II Wastewater Collection certification or higher.
