Position Overview:

Durham Technical Community College is seeking an Evening Housekeeping Supervisor within the Housekeeping Department. This leadership role is essential for overseeing and coordinating the activities of all contracted evening housekeeping personnel to uphold the cleanliness standards across the college's facilities.

The Supervisor will provide guidance and oversight while also executing various tasks as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager and Assistant Facilities Director, aiming to meet the objectives of the Facility Services Department.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in organizing special room setups and facilitate the relocation of faculty and staff as needed, including moving furniture and distributing supplies across buildings.

2. Maintain the established cleaning standards for all college facilities.

3. Act as a liaison between the college and contracted janitorial service providers, ensuring effective communication to uphold satisfactory cleaning standards and enforce contract stipulations.

4. Monitor and assist in the cleaning of hallways, lounges, classrooms, and restrooms, promptly addressing any issues such as spills or debris.

5. Ensure proper maintenance and storage of cleaning equipment and supplies, performing minor repairs when necessary, and reporting major repair needs to the Supervisor.

6. Maintain cleanliness and organization in storerooms and janitor closets.

7. Ensure all evening cleaning tasks are completed to the college's standards each night.

8. Conduct nightly inspections of the buildings to ensure cleanliness.

9. Support the development and maintenance of training programs for housekeeping staff.

10. Report any discrepancies in compliance with policies and procedures to the Housekeeping Manager immediately.

11. Attend weekly meetings with the Housekeeping Manager to discuss issues and departmental functions.

12. Follow all assignments as directed by the Housekeeping Manager and Assistant Director of Facility Services.

13. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.


Minimum Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.

- Valid Driver's License required.

- At least 5 years of housekeeping experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Proficient in the use of housekeeping products and techniques.

- Initiative to ensure efficient operations and a proactive approach to improvements.

- Understanding of the college's mission and facility maintenance objectives.

- Strong organizational skills for managing records and schedules.

- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Ability to follow directives and complete tasks efficiently.

- Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy with a cooperative attitude.


Physical Demands:
Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Good hand-eye coordination is essential.

Normal Working Hours:

A minimum of a 40-hour work week is expected, with regular meetings and occasional weekend work. Summer and holiday schedules may vary.
