Job Overview

In collaboration with the designated Admit Nurse/House Supervisor, the Bed Control Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency of the hospital by documenting admission requests and facilitating bed assignments.

Compensation Range

Minimum $22.63 Midpoint $29.99 Maximum $37.34

Required Experience

Experience in an acute care hospital admissions or business office setting is essential. Previous experience in public communication is also required.

Educational Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Preferred: Some college education is advantageous.

Required Training

A working knowledge of Medical Terminology is necessary.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in computer systems and software relevant to the role, along with the ability to type at least 40 WPM. Familiarity with office equipment such as multiline phones, faxes, copiers, and printers is required. The ability to set objectives and evaluate outcomes according to the highest standards is essential, as is the capacity to foster teamwork and promote the mission of CHOC.

Licensure Requirements

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The role requires a medium to high energy level, with the ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs. and push/pull patients on beds or stretchers. Physical activities include bending, climbing, repetitive keyboard use, and various lifting tasks.

Sensory and Environmental Requirements:

The position necessitates color discrimination, depth perception, and the ability to work in environments with airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and extreme noise levels.
