Responsibilities:
The Patient Registration Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating a seamless patient experience during the registration process. Utilizing exceptional customer service skills, the primary responsibilities include:

a) Ensuring accurate patient identification

b) Collecting comprehensive and precise patient demographic information

c) Verifying insurance details and eligibility

d) Assessing and collecting patient financial responsibilities

e) Directing patients to the Patient Registration Specialist for assistance with financial inquiries and/or clearance

The Patient Registration Specialist adheres to organizational policies and procedures to resolve patient financial responsibilities.

Additionally, this role serves as a valuable resource for patients and their families, providing clarity on hospital policies, financial obligations, and Patient Rights and Responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Minimum:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, or other related roles is required; 2 years of experience is preferred.

Relevant education and/or training may be considered to compensate for a lack of experience. A High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is necessary.

A solid understanding of insurance policies and procedures is essential, along with a working knowledge of medical terminology.

Candidates must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations for payment assessments and possess intermediate to advanced computer skills.

Preferred:
Familiarity with charity care programs and various government and non-government assistance programs is preferred.
