Responsibilities:
The Patient Registration Specialist conducts interviews with patients or their representatives to gather demographic information. This role also involves securing insurance details, verifying eligibility, benefits, and obtaining necessary authorizations. Collaborating closely with all aspects of the Admitting department, including PBX operations and reception areas, is essential. Proficiency in computer operations for data input and retrieval is required.
Effective communication with the served population is necessary, utilizing age-specific techniques across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics.
Maintaining a strong understanding of medical terminology is crucial. Additional projects or assignments may be assigned with specific completion expectations.Qualifications:
Education and Work Experience
Prior experience in a hospital setting as an admissions representative is preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities are required.
Customer service experience is mandatory.
A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required (effective for all new hires).
Shasta Regional Medical Center offers competitive compensation, with the current salary range for this position being $19.10 to $26.43. Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreements and/or employment status.
The specific starting salary will be determined at the time of hiring, considering various factors such as skill set, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
