About the Role

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Admissions Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Access/Admissions Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient intake process for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial triage and face-to-face interviews with incoming patients to gather clinical information and assess their needs.
  • Collaborate with licensed healthcare professionals to determine the best course of treatment and make referrals or transfers as necessary.
  • Manage pre-admission cases, including requests for medical records and other clinical information.
  • Enter patient data into our computer system and perform various administrative tasks related to admissions and referrals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and referral sources, answering questions and addressing concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work closely with our healthcare teams to ensure seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or nursing.
  • Previous clinical experience in an inpatient setting, preferably in a psychiatric or substance abuse facility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as social work or counseling.
  • Previous experience working as a NJ screener or in a psychiatric admissions department.
