Job Overview - Patient Services Coordinator

The Patient Services Coordinator for OrthoNow is tasked with ensuring efficient operations in the areas of registration, appointment scheduling, and financial counseling. This role is essential in facilitating patient and customer check-in processes, verifying insurance details, and maintaining accurate demographic information.

The Coordinator will oversee patient flow, assess financial responsibilities, and manage the collection and posting of payments, including co-pays and deductibles, at the time of service.

Additionally, this position involves scheduling various types of appointments, both within the clinic and externally. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive and organized record of all appointments, ensuring that all pertinent information is readily available in the medical records.

In the capacity of financial counselor, the Coordinator will assist patients in exploring available assistance programs. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed, within the scope of this role.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
  • Experience with insurance verification and referrals is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology is essential.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with electronic medical records.
  • Flexibility to work in various areas as required.
  • Ability to empathize with patients regarding their financial situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact courteously with colleagues, insurance representatives, and patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all situations.
