Position Overview: The Custodian plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our facilities. This position is essential for maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute custodial tasks as directed by the Facility Director.
  • Ensure the building is clean and well-maintained at all times.
  • Perform cleaning duties including sanitizing, mopping, trash disposal, dusting, window washing, and grounds upkeep.
  • Maintain the outdoor areas in a safe and visually appealing manner throughout the year.
  • Provide a safe environment for members and staff while executing job responsibilities.
  • Assist with room setups and breakdowns, as well as snow removal when necessary.
  • Identify and report any health, safety, or cleanliness concerns to the supervisor.
  • Keep an adequate supply of custodial and maintenance materials.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols while performing tasks.
  • Support the maintenance of building and fire safety inspections.
  • Comply with all YMCA policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in custodial services.
  • Knowledge of basic custodial equipment and procedures is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet job demands.
  • Willingness to complete all required training and certifications within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
