Position Summary

Under the guidance of a Project Manager or Senior Electrical Technicians, the Electrical Service Technician I is responsible for various tasks associated with the installation and layout of commercial and industrial electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation, providing assistance to fellow technicians.
  • Interpret and work from construction drawings, including electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Regularly update project management tools and communicate progress to the project team.
  • Install branch and distribution systems, as well as various lighting configurations.
  • Set up motor, power, and control systems, along with specialized electrical systems such as fire detection and nurse call systems.
  • Execute underground system installations and troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for apprentices and ensure the safeguarding of company tools and materials.
  • Request materials as necessary for project completion.

Qualifications

Skills and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in the electrical field.
  • Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program and eligibility for Maryland and Delaware Electrical Journeyperson Licenses.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Good mechanical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must possess personal tools as required by the company and maintain them in good condition.
  • Willingness to travel regionally as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, with shifts ranging from 8 to 10 hours.
  • Physical activities include standing, climbing, kneeling, lifting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift weights ranging from 0 to 75 lbs. at varying frequencies.
  • Vision must be adequate for reading blueprints and color coding.
  • Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes and exposure to dust and fumes.
