Position Summary

Under the guidance of a Project Manager or Senior Electrical Service Technicians, the Electrical Service Technician I will engage in various tasks associated with the design and installation of commercial and industrial electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation and support fellow technicians during their scheduled shifts.
  • Interpret and work from construction documents, including electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Regularly update project management software and keep the team informed of project status.
  • Install branch and distribution systems, as well as various lighting configurations.
  • Set up motor, power, and control systems, along with specialized electrical systems such as fire alarms and nurse call systems.
  • Conduct installations of underground electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools.
  • Provide on-the-job training for apprentices.
  • Safeguard and maintain company tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Request materials as necessary for ongoing projects.

Qualifications

Skills and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in the electrical field.
  • Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program and eligibility for a Maryland and Delaware Electrical Journeyperson License.
  • Solid understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work sites.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to procure and maintain personal tools as per company requirements.
  • Willingness to operate company vehicles and travel to job sites as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, with shifts ranging from 8 to 10 hours.
  • Frequent standing and climbing for 4 to 6 hours daily.
  • Engage in kneeling, lifting, reaching, and bending for 4 to 5 hours daily.
  • Occasional lifting of weights between 0 to 75 lbs., with varying frequencies.
  • Repetitive use of hands and feet for operating equipment and performing installations.
  • Vision sufficient for reading blueprints and identifying wire colors.
  • Ability to work in diverse environmental conditions, including temperature extremes and exposure to various atmospheric elements.
